How One Engineer Covers Seven States

Structural engineering licenses are issued state by state, and each one means the same thing: the state's licensing board has verified education, experience, and examination, and holds the engineer accountable for every sealed drawing. Cody maintains active licenses in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, and Alabama — each verifiable directly with that state's board from the state page.

The work itself travels well. Residential structural design starts from your plan set, your lot's conditions, and your jurisdiction's adopted code — all things we handle the same way whether the lot is twenty minutes from the office or in another state: plans uploaded through the site, design engineered to the governing code, sealed PDFs delivered for permit, and the engineer on the phone when your builder or plan reviewer has questions.

What changes state to state is the code and the conditions — which is exactly what each state page covers. Georgia reviews against the newest code in the country; Texas has no statewide code at all; Charleston needs seismic design; Texas slabs live or die by expansive clay. Knowing those differences is the job.
